The Old Life Sailed Away

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

The first phone call I had with Brendon was one to remember. He was living on his sailboat off the Keys and was living in his own world. Drugs and alcohol had led him into a mental health facility where he finally came to decision to get help.

Brendon came to us lost and had no idea the transformation God was about to do. He was not a believer at the time, yet the Spirit was already working in Brendon.

Soon after coming into the program, Brendon decided to turn his life over to Jesus. About a month or so into the program we took them on a deep-sea fishing trip and Brendon was baptized in the ocean. From there the Lord really began doing a work in Brendon. He has since graduated the program, he is working for our First Baptist Leesburg thrift store, he is enrolled in Bible College, he volunteers in our youth program, and he is about to move into our transition house.

When we were on the fishing boat, he noticed a sailboat out in the ocean. The sailboat went one way, and our boat went another. He stated God was showing him that he is on course for a brand-new life heading in a brand-new direction. He claimed that the old has sailed away and the new has begun.

God is working all throughout the Christian Care Center. He is restoring families, transforming lives, and meeting needs. If you would like to be a part of the Lord’s work here at the Men’s Residence, please email me at Jamie@christiancarecenter.org to find out how God can use you!
