Reconciliation Business

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins” 1 Peter 4:8.

At the Men’s Center, God is definitely in the reconciliation business. He is busy reconciling himself to the men here through His Son Jesus Christ and He is busy reconciling families who have been torn apart due to drugs and alcohol. We get a front row seat to watch husbands reconciled to their wives’, fathers reconciled to their children, and children reconciled to their parents.

Dillon came to us about 7 months ago after choosing to live on the streets from an early age. He allowed drugs to isolate him from his friends, family, and even himself. When Dillon came to us, he was broken and struggled to find his worth and identity. I will never forget his tears when he told us all about his mom bringing him one of her famous apple pies when he was living in his addiction, and he was so ashamed of himself that he left the hotel and never got to get it from her. He wanted nothing more than to get a hug and warm slice of apple pie from his mother again.

After a few weeks of being in the program he started making calls to his mom. She was so proud of him and what he was doing here. Dillon struggled daily to stay here in the program; he always had the street life pulling at him. But whenever he would talk to his momma it would bring him back to reality.

One weekend Dillon got a surprise as we went to church and there were his mom and his stepdad. Tears filled not only their eyes, but also all of those around them. It touched everyone’s heart to see the reconciliation. And the best part was the warm apple pie she brought that he was finally able to receive.

It's pretty amazing what God can do in the families of those in recovery. If you would like to be a part of God’s reconciliation ministry either by being a prayer partner, a financial partner, or a volunteer please email Jamie@christiancarecenter.org
