One of our continual prayers at the Samaritan Inn has been for affordable housing options for our graduating families—places where they can put into practice the lessons they’ve learned during their time with us, while continuing to save, pursue career goals, and work toward long-term stability and even homeownership.

This is the story of how God answered that prayer for one of our resident families.

Sarah, a single mom, worked diligently throughout her program, consistently meeting—and exceeding—the goals set before her. After completing the first phase of the program, she pressed on, growing deeper in her spiritual life and career development, even returning to school. As her exit date approached, everything seemed to be falling into place.

Meanwhile, back at the Inn, we continued to pray.

Then one day, God answered—through a phone call. A community member reached out who owned a local rental property and felt led to help someone experiencing homelessness. She just didn’t know where to begin. She had recently invested significantly in the unit, making it feel brand new. As I shared with her how she could partner with us to provide next-step housing—and that I had the perfect candidate—we both stood in awe of God’s perfect timing.

Because of that call, Sarah was able to start the new year in a new home. Even former graduates showed up on moving day to lend a helping hand. Saying goodbye is always a bittersweet moment, but it is filled with joy knowing that Sarah and her son now have a place to call their own.

If you are interested in partnering with us—whether through a rental unit or in another way—please reach out to Daryl@christiancarecanter.org.
