For months, the women at the Women’s Care Center have been lovingly restoring a rocking chair to gift to a young mother. Every other Friday since summer, they’ve gathered in Ms. Connie’s crafting class—sanding, staining, painting, and sharing plenty of laughter along the way.

From the beginning, the women knew this chair was meant for a mother-to-be, and they poured intention and care into every stroke of the sander and sweep of the brush. What started as a simple project quickly became something much deeper.

Healing from past addictions can make it difficult to look beyond your own struggles. This project gave the women an opportunity to step outside themselves—to serve, to give, and to create something beautiful for someone else. As they worked to restore the chair, they reflected on the restoration happening in their own lives.

They were incredibly proud of the finished piece, seeing it as a symbol of the work the Lord is doing in their hearts—renewing, rebuilding, and making all things new.

If you or someone you love needs help with addiction, please contact the Women’s Care Center at 352-787-8929. We look forward to walking with you and witnessing the restoration that can take place.
