Shakira first came to the Pregnancy & Family Care Center in 2019 for services during her pregnancy. While participating in the pregnancy center’s Earn While You Learn program, director Wanda Kohn encouraged her to watch a movie based on the classic Christian book Pilgrim’s Progress as part of that program. Shakira shared recently that the movie influenced the writing of her book, Pain Pushed Me into My Purpose: Walked Through the Fire but Not Burned. We traveled Shakira’s road with her for a bit, and we encouraged her as she faced many challenges.
