In Matthew 4:19 we read, “And He said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
About six months ago we reached out to ask for sponsorships to help us take the residents of our Men’s Residence out on a deep-sea fishing adventure. The idea was to get the men outdoors on the water, enjoying this new life Jesus had died for them to have.
After some time in the program, the thought of life apart from drugs and alcohol can be quite scary. Most men, before coming here, have consumed most of their time active in their addiction and, therefore, not getting to experience the gift of life.
After your generous donations, we took our residents on a trip they will never forget. The fellowship was amazing, and the fishing was awesome, but the testimonies and the joy that filled that boat were beyond words. The deck hand that day was a man in recovery himself and through us, God encouraged him, and he encouraged us.
We have decided that we want to make this a semi-annual trip so that everyone who comes into our program will have this same opportunity as the previous group. Boredom is one the main triggers that sends a man into relapse, so part of our program is teach these men there is life after drugs and life abundantly. Help us make these men fishermen who can learn to be fishers of men. The cost for each client is $115 for a full day out on the water – bait and poles included. If you would like to be a part of this blessing, please email me at Jamie@christiancarecenter.org or call us at 352-787-9904.
Be a part of giving these men, these fathers, and these husbands a life worth living. Our next boat is planning on going out in May, but this can only happen with your help.
