More Than a Gift Basket

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change” (James 1:17).
Christmas at the Christian Care Center Men’s Residence is often bittersweet. Our men celebrate the birth of their Savior with grateful hearts, while many also carry sorrow from the pain addiction has caused their families. Joy and grief often sit side by side—especially during the holidays.
This year, God turned sorrow into gladness.
Through the faithful efforts of Sally and Cynthia, and the generosity of our community, each of our 32 residents received a Christmas gift basket—a simple but powerful reminder that they are seen, remembered, and deeply loved by their Father in Heaven. What seemed small carried great encouragement for men rebuilding their lives one day at a time.

I know this personally. When I was once a resident here, a volunteer handed me a simple chocolate bar. It didn’t cost much, but it gave me hope and reminded me that my story wasn’t over.

Inside the baskets were gift cards that met real needs and restored dignity in personal ways. And through additional generosity, these men were able to place gifts under their own Christmas trees for their children. Addiction takes much—but this Christmas, God gave something back. He gave fathers the joy of blessing their kids and being part of their Christmas morning.

That joy brought healing words can’t fully capture.
This is Christmas at the house of miracles—lives restored, hearts renewed, and families given hope again.
If you feel led to join what God is doing here through prayer, volunteering, or giving, we would love to walk that journey with you.
