GLOW Conference Attendees Serve on Our Campus

Updated: Jun 6, 2019

“Even as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:28

Last month I was given the privilege to meet and give my testimony at a GLOW event at Lake Yale. This was the Girls Lighting Our World Conference which reached out to the entire Christian Care Center campus as a mission focus. They sent more than 50 young ladies to come to the Christian Care Center to serve. I was also invited to come meet the ladies and talk a little about the Christian Care Center. God directed me to go and give my testimony of coming through the Men’s Center and then leading the Children’s Shelter.

I brought literature from each ministry so they could prepare their hearts the night before and have something to pray over. On Saturday they came to the Christian Care Center and split into groups. They washed windows, did yard work and prayed over each ministry.

They had a group spend time with our children doing an obstacle course, minute-to-win-it games, arts and crafts and a photo booth. They also brought needed items as donations. We then came back to the shelter where we had our Women’s Care Center residents come and share their testimonies. The group then prayed over the ladies and were on their way back to their conference.

This group had no idea of the impact our ministries would have on them, and they had no idea of the lasting impressions they left in all of our hearts. Just as Jesus came to serve, these young middle school and high school girls came with a heart to serve those in need. If you have a desire to serve in any capacity at either our Children’s Shelter or any of our ministries please don’t hesitate to email me at Jamie.Scher@fbchomes.org or call the Children’s Shelter at 352-787-2448.
