Jessy had her first encounter with God while sitting in jail. She knew she was ready for a change. She knew her way had not worked. She knew these things but didn’t know what to do from there. After being released it took several more months for Jessy to begin following God’s lead. After going to her family’s house late one night, they suggested the Women’s Care Center the next morning. Although they went to First Baptist Paisley and lived in Altoona, the Women’s Care Center had the reputation of changing lives and Jessy knew that was exactly what she needed. They made the short trip to Leesburg for the initial interview.
Jessy was quiet, soft spoken and with a gentle spirit. It was the second interview a few days later, that she was determined to come and stay. She began the program and was like a sponge, soaking up every word, every lesson. God continued to work in her life and in August of last year she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She proudly made a public declaration of faith and was baptized. Her children surprised her with a visit that day. Heaven was rejoicing and the entire family was too. It was a celebration!
Jessy continued to dive into classes and graduated January 1st of this year. She was eager to begin service work and welcomed each and every opportunity to serve on the Christian Care Center campus. Restoration began with Jessy and her family, and everyone has witnessed the change. She has said she had to purge the lies she had believed and be filled with God’s truth…with His promises. As she leaves the Women’s Care Center to return to family, she does so as a new creation- the daughter of the King. We are so excited for all that God is doing in and through Jessy!
When we asked what she is most looking forward to when she leaves. She smiled and said, “talking to my kids about Jesus and family nights playing board games.”
