Bill is the Executive Director of both the Christian Care Center (comprised of 7 different ministries) as well as the Community Medical Care Center (our medical partnership with Leesburg Regional Medical Center). His goal is to inspire and support his staff and volunteers to be fully engaged in our mission and strategy. He is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Civil Engineering and has a Masters Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. He and his wife Mandy have 3 daughters.
Wanda Kohn is the director of the Pregnancy & Family Care Center. She began her involvement with PFCC in 1988 as a volunteer counselor and accepted the position as Director in 2002. Since that time, she has greatly expanding the services that the PFCC offers. Wanda is the Co-Founder of Habitat for Humanity of Lake County and received the WORLD magazine’s 2007 Daniel of the Year Award for her work in the pro-life cause. Her and her husband Bob teach a family focused Bible Fellowship class at First Baptist Leesburg and love serving the Lord together.
Myra is the Director of the Children’s Shelter. She has worked at the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, the Lancaster Youth Development Center, and the Department of Children and Families as a Child Protection Investigator. Myra is a native Floridian and grew up in the panhandle just a few miles from the Baptist College of Florida where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology. Myra believes her experience working with abused, neglected, troubled and marginalized youth prepared her for the job at the Children’s Shelter. Her experience as a Child Protective Investigator provides her with a unique insight and first-hand knowledge about the needs and backgrounds of the children in care.
Bob is the director of our Samaritan Inn (shelter for homeless children and their parents). He and his wife Wanda (Director of our Pregnancy & Family Care Center) live in Bushnell. Bob has been self-employed for the majority of his working career as a heating and air conditioning specialist. He has served at First Baptist Church Leesburg in many capacities, but has always been involved in caring for families and training moms and dads how to lead their families for the Lord. Bob came out of semi-retirement to help homeless families make a better life for themselves and their children.
Victoria L. Johnson is the Director of the Women’s Residence. Victoria’s heart and desire for the center is to provide a safe and loving place for women to recover and make mistakes that can be corrected and learned from, so that they may eventually re-enter into society and be able to be productive, while working on a relationship with God. Victoria is a graduate of Central Florida Bible Institute with an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies and Major Bible Doctrine. She and her husband Cecil are parents and proud Grandparents.
Jay is the director of our Men’s Residence. With his background in inner city missions he is passionate about helping men change their lives through discipleship. Jay and his wife Linda have four children.
Lee Evans has been the Director of the Benevolence Ministry since 2011 and a member at First Baptist Leesburg for 34 years. He also currently serves on the church deacon body. He has been married to his wife Gail for 42 years. They have two grown children, Joe and Danna, and two grandsons. In 1985, Lee and Gail started the emergency children shelter for the Christian Care Center and were the directors for almost ten years. Lee’s goal for the Benevolence ministry is to meet physical needs so that the most important need can be addressed, the need for Jesus Christ.
Ken began the Fresh Start Ministry in 2008 when the National and Central Florida economies had taken a major downturn and unemployment reached historical highs. Ken was founding director and chief administrative officer for the Lake County Vocational Technical Center and the Kenneth A. Bragg Public Safety Complex. Through these, he established training programs in over forty occupational areas. Ken has provided four decades of service to Lake County’s education and business community and has had significant impact on state and national education and economic development programs. He holds a bachelors and masters degree from Western Kentucky University. Ken and his wife Sue have been married for 55 years. They have two daughters and live on a small ranch in Fruitland Park.
Over the past 15 years it has been both an honor and pleasure for Tammy to serve as the first Office Manager and most recently as Ministry Director of the Community Medical Care Center. Tammy moved to Leesburg 22 years ago and is a native of Oregon (Go Ducks). Shortly after relocating to Florida she began attending First Baptist Church and got involved in Discipleship classes and volunteering at the Pregnancy and Family Care Center. She was hired as an assistant at First Baptist Church in 1997 and then in 1999 progressed to the Medical Center as Office Manager. She shares that it is awesome to serve in a position where you see firsthand on a daily basis the providence of God over so many.
