The Love You Shared

"We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ" ( 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 NIV).

We want to give a big thank you to the First Baptist Leesburg South Campus youth and their families! Here at the Samaritan Inn, we are filled with joy at the love you shared with us.

Recently we were blessed at the Samaritan Inn to host an evening sponsored by Pastor Will Goubert. It was a family evening that touched many (from the moms who received some much-welcomed fellowship to the kids who enjoyed the interaction with the dads). For some this was their first glimpse of what biblical manhood and fathers look like.

The evening started with what might seem like a simple meal, but for our families, it’s one less thing to worry about. After the meal it was all fun and games (from football to basketball and even tag). Many of the South Campus youth showed their heart as they teamed up with some of our youngest residents on the swings and playground. We played well into the night. What a joy it was to watch!

The only sorrow was when it was time to go. The love and attention shared profoundly affected many, including Pastor Nathan Wallace who has already expressed his desire to return. And so, I want to say thanks again through scripture. I found this word from Paul a fitting thanks…

"This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!" (2 Corinthians 9: 12-15)

If it is this simple to serve, I ask, why not here? Why not now? Why not you?
