CSH Children Lay Aside Struggles to Have a Fun Day

Ecclesiastes 3:4 tells us that life will provide us different times: “A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.” The children in our Children’s Shelter have definitely had some rough times. Their memories can be full of sadness and darkness; but God…God said that yes, there will be times of mourning and weeping, but along with that comes times of laughter and joy. One thing God has always laid upon my heart when it comes to our Children’s Shelter is the importance of finding ways to make new memories that these children can carry with them to help them get through the scary times. Last week we had a wonderful opportunity to take our shelter to Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa.

We were able to take them because of donations given to us for summer activities. It was a time to forget their troubles for a short time and just enjoy being a child. They were able to look around at the animals, splash in the water zone

and even get me on the big splash river ride!

We were blessed to have some of our volunteers join us on this adventure to share the blessings God has bestowed upon these children. It was a wonderful day to sit back and watch these children run around and laugh and put aside their struggles, even if it was just for a few hours. When someone donates to our activity fund, they are not just donating for a field trip; they are donating a wonderful memory that these children can take with them forever!
