Jamison's New Preschool Blesses Children's Shelter

“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and filled,’ without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also, faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:14-17

Recently, we had to find a new preschool for Jamison. For any parent, this can be a daunting task, but for us, finding adequate care for our special need’s child presents a unique challenge. During our search, KidCity – a preschool connected with The Father’s House church – came to mind. I remembered how time and time again this church and preschool had come to the aid of those in our community, including us here at the Christian Care Center. So, it was no surprise when searching for the best preschool and learning center for Jamison that KidCity ended up being our choice. Jamison loves his school and his teachers, and so do we.

Not too long ago, the administrator at KidCity reached out to me letting me know they would be co-hosting their annual Preschool Fall Festival with The Father’s House, and the proceeds would bless our shelter. As an entrance fee, they encouraged families to bring individually-wrapped snacks for our children to use for school and outings. Additionally, all proceeds from the festival games, activities and concessions directly benefited the shelter.

The festival was a blast – from the games and arts and crafts, to the hot dogs, cotton candy, face painting, hay rides and much more! But, to me, the best part was seeing our children from the Children’s Shelter serving alongside The Father’s House and KidCity workers. Our children helped run games and even made me a snow cone! It wasn’t long before I was receiving messages from attendees saying how helpful our children were and asking how to get involved. This is what serving our Lord is all about – community helping community. The shelter was blessed by all the donations, and I believe everyone who met our children was also blessed. The Father’s House along with KidCity continually serve as a lighthouse in our community, and we thank God for their heart!
