Myra was born and raised in the Panhandle on a large ranch.  While growing up, she attended the church her great grandfather built in the early 1900's, and gave her life to the Lord when she was 9.  She received a BA in Theology from Florida Baptist Theological College where she met her husband, Chester. Myra was previously a Child Protection Investigator with the Department of Children and Families.  Along with her past experiences as an investigator, the death of Myra's only child several years ago gives her a unique insight and deep compassion for the children placed in her care.

Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Catherine is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She worked her way up the corporate ladder to Vice President of a Technology Company, but never quite found the contentment she was looking for.  In 2003, she and her family moved to the Leesburg area in order to slow down and to be with James’ family.  It didn’t take long to find the Christian Care Center and it was love at first sight! Catherine started out volunteering, then took a turn as Temporary Director of the Thrift Store before becoming director of the Benevolence Center in January 2007.

Darla has worked in teen pregnancy prevention and abstinence education since 1996 when she began volunteering for the Sumter County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Task Force. She was then hired by Workforce Central Florida to conduct a research project designed to find the best practice methods for preventing teen pregnancy in Lake and Sumter Counties.  Darla began writing grants to garner funds to provide information to empower teens to make the healthiest choice concerning their sexual activity- which is to save sexual activity for marriage. In October 2006, the CCC received a Federal Abstinence Education Grant (CBAE) which will be funded through October 2011.

Linda  Lewis also has vast experience in abstinence education.  She directed the first abstinence program in Lake County for three years while finishing a master's degree in Christian Counseling.  She currently provides counseling services to at-risk youth enrolled in the program to empower them to avoid  behaviors such as substance abuse, sexual activity, and crime while developing anger management and resistance skills as well as a healthy self image.
