|
| All ABC for Teens facilitators are certified in abstinence education. |
The ABC for teens classes are taught in public and private schools, youth organizations, churches and other settings
in Citrus, Hernando, Lake and Sumter Counties. The classes cover goal setting, media and consumer literacy, risks of
sex and sexual activity, establishing and maintaining boundaries, refusal skills, healthy relationships, marriage preparation,
and commitment to abstinence.
There is a different curriculum for each grade level from sixth through twelfth grades so that all information is age-appropriate.
The classes are highly interactive and the teachers utilize the most current best practice teaching methods and
brain-based learning strategies to enhance student's retention of the information, concepts and skills taught in
each session.

Abstinence is defined as "choosing to save all sexual activity for marriage."
In today's culture, sex is used to sell everything from cars to movies and the reality of any serious consequences are rarely
portrayed. Abstinence is the only sure way to protect one's mind, body and heart from the various consequences of premarital
sexual activity. Abstinence is the safest, healthiest lifestyle and one of the best ways to prepare for a healthy
future marriage. Our students deserve to hear the truth - there are consequences to sex
and sexual activity outside of marriage, and they are usually negative and potentially life changing. Although
teen birth rates have declined across the country, sexually transmitted disease rates have increased among sexually
active youth. Teens deserve to be taught more than a possible risk-reduction strategy. They deserve to know that
they have the right to choose abstinence.
