Baby Showers are not given in Egypt, so what a surprise the Village Park ladies and their gifts were to Merna when she entered the room.  Although Merna speaks only Arabic, that didn’t stop any of us from communicating to her how special she is to us and to God!  Her smiles gave us all the thanks we needed. Her husband Emad could not believe his eyes when later that day he saw the gracious gifts the Village Park gave including lots of baby clothes, diapers and such as well as a car seat and stroller combo.  The Pregnancy Center also had someone donate a crib to this couple who heard about their need through Facebook.

Merna and her husband are refugees from Egypt, fleeing the country because of persecution of their Christian faith.  They came to Lake County because Dave and Ruth, a couple from Clermont, answered a Facebook plea for help.  Using Google Translator was the norm for communication when they took this pregnant couple into their home.  They asked God to provide a job for Emad and housing for the couple and He did just that!  They are in a foreign land but surrounded by the family of God.

Pictured above on the front row are Dave, Ruth and their granddaughter, along with Merna, Joseph Ishak and Lauren Mansour.  Standing behind them are Wanda Kohn, the PFCC Director and ladies from Village Park.  Thank you, Village Park ladies, for wrapping your hearts around this young mother!  We later received a sweet thank you note from Merna and Emad.

Baby Mathew was born on December 30 – here are a couple of pictures!!
