Give and it will be given unto you. They will pour into your lap a good measure pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard measure it will be measured to you in return. Luke 6:38
Christmas might be over but here at the Children’s Shelter we are still sorting through the abundance of presents given to the children in love. This year was our biggest donation yet, and what a wonderful sight it was to see the children’s faces when they woke up Christmas morning!! Our community pitched in with many local business throwing our children Christmas parties, and we were also able to help others in need by donating many of the presents to other in need. One of my favorite presents to the children was given by a member of our Village Park campus. They decided they wanted the children to receive the blessing of giving this year so they each received a $50 gift card to go out and shop and buy presents for their families, teachers, staff and friends. They gathered and wrapped them together and they were filled with joy. But I have to admit the greatest thing I witnessed this Christmas was not necessarily the presents, it was not just the parties and the community love. I would have to say my favorite thing was watching as one of our clients celebrate Christmas for the first time. He had never celebrated the birth of Jesus like this before. He asked questions, learned about the reason for the season and even received a Kingstone comic Bible of his own. Then a local neighbor, who is a mentor to his brother, invited him over for the holiday to be able to spend the day with the family and his brother. This will definitely go down as one of our greatest Christmases here at the shelter, and I believe it will be the beginning of the eternal celebration we will soon be sharing in for this one child.
