thanksThe Holidays can often be a time of sadness for our children at our Children’s Shelter. When everyone at school is talking about their family holidays and who they are sharing the holiday with, our children often shy away, as they have no place to call home for the Holidays. Some of our children do get to go home for holidays.  However, the rest have nowhere to go, and as a result they begin to question their self-worth. This year we did something a little different. Rather than spending Thanksgiving at the shelter, we had families from the staff at FBC Leesburg adopt our children for the day. All of our children went to volunteers’ homes to spend Thanksgiving with different families. No child was left with no home for the holiday, no child spent Thanksgiving without a sponsor family, and no child had to shy away when others asked what they did for Thanksgiving! What a compassionate God we serve!! And with Christmas right around the corner, I can guarantee no child will be left without a family.
